It’s well known that in the search for even more musicality Art Audio decided to go down the single ended route and found after many hours of development and listening sessions the 300b was the way to go. This of course led to our world famous and critically acclaimed Diavolo SET, which has has for many years set the standard against which other 300b SETs have been measured. But good as it was, we have now improved the performance of the mains transformer, by using a proprietary dual toroidal device, with separate transformers for high and low tension. Due to this and use of a new core material, noise performance has been improved considerably.
One of the many advantages of this arrangement is the ability to provide, at the customers request, a standby mode. It also allows for separate protection of each part of the supply. This led in turn to a cosmetic redesign, to take advantage of the lower height and better separation.
There is nothing like the musical sound of a single ended design, the simplified signal path lays bare all the information available from the source played, the only criticism that seemed to be around of the design was poor frequency extremes, so we tackled this in our designs.
